I have experience providing a number of evidence based treatments to treat a range of mental health goals. As each person has their own unique goals and circumstances I will spend some time getting to know you and then draw on the most appropriate treatment plan for you. Some of the therapies I am able to offer include cognitive behavioural therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness skills.
I am currently only offering individual therapy to adults (18+).
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of therapy that emphasises living in a way that is in-line with our values. It helps us to continue to do the things that are important to us even when faced with difficult thoughts, feelings, and situations.
Schema therapy focuses on understanding our schemas, which are frameworks people use to make sense of themselves and their surroundings and often develop early in our lives. Schema therapy helps us to understand why we behave and think the way we do by understanding our early life experiences. Schema therapy aims to replace unhealthy patterns of behaviour with more appropriate ones, ultimately improving mental well-being.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy best known as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). EMDR is now a widely used therapy used to address a number of mental health conditions including chronic depression and anxiety disorders. EMDR is a tool we use to reduce the impact memories of significant negative events have on daily functioning.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps people learn how to identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that are negatively impacting their emotional and functional wellbeing. In CBT we primarily focus on strategies we can implement in the here-and-now to improve your immediate functioning.
